Every house or structure needs an HVAC system. Regardless of the season or weather outside, the HVAC system is designed to assist in controlling the environmental conditions within a structure to produce a comfortable environment by heating and cooling the room. Having an energy-efficient HVAC system will benefit you since it will cost you less money over time because it uses less energy to operate.

The operation of commercial facilities must include energy conservation. A best practice for energy conservation at your facility includes managing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems (HVAC) through efficient operation and maintenance. To help increase overall energy efficiency, the following areas of attention for HVAC maintenance and management are listed:

Temperature Regulation

A manufacturing facility’s temperature can be controlled to save money and reduce energy use. Additionally, it reduces threats to health and safety and raises employee output. Therefore, in addition to cost savings from energy use, optimizing the temperature of the manufacturing environment offers a host of advantages.

Energy Efficiency Filters

All of AHU’s component parts, except for the air filters, have a constant airflow resistance and commensurate energy consumption. Due to dust buildup in the filter, the resistance to air movement in an air filter increases over time. The pressure drop caused by the air filters accounts for 30% of the energy used by the fan in an AHU. Because of this, choosing energy-efficient filters might result in cost savings. However, filters should always be efficient (meet hygienic standards) and the price of a new filter should also be considered.

Maintaining System Boundaries

Up to 20% more HVAC energy efficiency can be achieved by directing heating and cooling to specific areas within system boundaries. According to the operational environment and season, boundaries can be changed. Depending on the season, a garage or loading area cannot have any heating or cooling at all. An open warehouse may occasionally have open entrances and doors between seasons, but other times it may be shut and heated or cooled. System boundaries must be precisely defined to determine what settings should be used when, where the boundaries are, and how airflow from HVAC ducting should be directed, according to an energy audit or commission for energy conservation in new buildings.
Reduce Speed

The minimal airspeed necessary to maintain sanitary conditions should be the primary factor used to specify the size of an AHU. This is because air speed through the AHU directly affects the energy consumption of the fan drive. The energy usage would significantly increase, for instance, if the air speed through the AHU increased above 2.5 m/s.
